Jumping Mechelen will say goodbye to the Nekkerhal in 2032 – but the story goes on

From a backyard event to a world-class show

On June 10, 2025, the city of Mechelen announced that the Nekkerhal will be taken down in 2032. For Jumping Mechelen, this marks the end of a special chapter — but definitely not the end of our story.

Over the past 40 years, Jumping Mechelen has grown into a top international event where amateurs and world-class riders shine side by side. Every year, between Christmas and New Year, more than 85,000 horse lovers gather in Mechelen for a magical holiday celebration.

A unique bubble filled with top sport, festive vibes, spectacular shows — and good company.

Of course, it’s sad to know we’ll have to say goodbye to the Nekkerhal in 2032. But we don’t see it as an end — we see it as the start of something new.

“We still have seven amazing editions to go in the Nekkerhal,” says Van Lent. “That’s already guaranteed by contract. And in the meantime, we’ll have plenty of time to dream, plan, and build the future of Jumping Mechelen — in a new location where we can create magic all over again, together with our fans, partners and friends.”
