Breeders and lovers of young horses beware! We have even more atmospheric events and talented horses waiting for you this year. Auction Mechelen is hosting not one, but two online auctions, one taking place before Jumping Mechelen and one following it. Moreover, the auction is not only open to 2- and 3-year-old horses as previously, but also talented 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds. On December 27, during Jumping Mechelen, you can enjoy the final free jumping for 2- and 3-year-olds in the New Year arena. The selections for free jumping and for the auction will start in a good month. Time, then, to get your talents ready!

Updated Mechelen Auction

We are ambitious. It is allowed. For although the oldest horses that changed hands through the auction are only 6 years old, we can already see impressive references to present. An approved breeding stallion, a finalist at the World Championships in Lanaken and numerous international sport horses: you would shift gears for less. Wendy Wauters: “Until now, we auctioned only 2- and 3-year-old horses. Starting this year, we are introducing two online auctions: the Christmas Collection Auction for 2 and 3-year-olds (closing on December 22nd, ’23) and the New Year Collection Auction for 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-olds (closing on January 2nd, ’24).

Auction Mechelen manages to gather a diverse collection of interesting horses each year. We resolutely go for well-bred, handsome promises that can appeal to a variety of target audiences, from the ambitious young rider looking to grow with a reliable partner under saddle, to the stallion owner looking for a stunner to win the hearts of breeders. Co-organizer Niels Bruynseels: “Our collection consists only of horses with the potential to run at least 2*-level. So we stand for quality. But matching the right horses to the right new owners is at least as important to us. We make it a point to know the horses well so that we can communicate clearly with interested parties about their specific characteristics.”

Your amazing horse at the auction

Does one of your young talents fit the Auction Mechelen picture? Then be sure to get in touch. In October and November you and your 2- to 7-year-old horse can go down to one of the 4 show times in Koningshooikt (17/10, 31/10, 07/11 or 14/11). Anyone who jumps into the spotlight during one of these viewing evenings already has a chance to win a spot in one of our year-end collections.

Looking for young talent?

The full collection will appear on the Auction Mechelen site on December 12. Do you want to see the 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-old horses in action beforehand? Then head over to the Christmas Arena on Wednesday, December 27th at 5:30 pm. between the class for 7-year-old stallions and the Léon Melchior Sires of the World (CSIW5*), you can see the horses in action. Free Jumping Mechelen

As per annual tradition, we are once again organizing a loose jumping competition for 2 and 3-year-old horses. Those who want to show their skills in the in the grand finale at the Nekker Hall (December 27 – New Year Arena) will literally have to “jump above.” First, you need to accumulate the necessary points at a number of selection competitions organized throughout the country. The top three from each preliminary round will have a chance to advance to the semifinals, This semifinal will take place at the Azelhof (Lier).

The summer season may be drawing to a close, but we are already busy making the fall and winter seasons at least as sunny for all horse fans. Drop in to our selection competitions, with or without a horse, take your chance at the auction and end the year celebrating at Jumping Mechelen. We are already looking forward to it.
