Beware of fake Facebook pages!

Are you already following Jumping Mechelen on social media? For us, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are essential channels to connect with you. We also love seeing our fans follow us in large numbers with such enthusiasm. Unfortunately, there’s a downside to this. On Facebook, there are quite a few fake accounts trying to pose as our official page. Their goal is to post links to fake livestreams to collect your information. To prevent this, we’ve provided some tips below on how to recognize our official accounts.

How do you recognize us?

Fake accounts posing as our official pages often attempt to deceive unsuspecting users. To protect yourself from this type of fraud, it’s helpful to follow some guidelines. For example, never accept friend requests from accounts pretending to be the official page—the real page does not send friend requests. However, you may receive an invitation to like the page. Also, pay attention to follower counts: the real Facebook page has about 28,000 followers (26,000 likes), and the Instagram page has around 18,700 followers. Accounts with fewer followers are fake. It’s also important to know that livestream options are only available through ClipMyHorse.TV and FEI.TV. Other links offered online are fake news!

What if you find a fake page?

If you notice suspicious activity, report it immediately via the three dots on Facebook or visit safeonweb.be for more information on how to improve your online security. This is the only measure we can implement to counter this. Unfortunately, we cannot remove these pages ourselves. The more people apply this, the more likely it is that the algorithms of the social media channels will recognize this and do something about it.

Stay safe! Recognize and report suspicious activity

It’s important to stay vigilant against online fraud and suspicious activities. Cybercriminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their attempts to deceive users, but by staying alert and taking the right steps, you can avoid falling victim to phishing and other types of scams. Trust only official sources and be critical about who you give access to your personal information.

Be extra cautious about who you connect with on social media! Don’t accept friend requests from fake accounts, and only follow pages you know to be genuine.
