Never before the equestrian world has been so excited for Jumping Mechelen. Horse lovers not only had to miss their annual appointment between Christmas and New Year’s for 2 years. But this year it will be an extra special edition to celebrate the 40th birthday of Flander’s Christmas jumping. Now we add to that with a spectacular list of participants. Both the world champion jumping and the world champion dressage will be present at the Nekkerhal. Moreover visitors will be able to watch multiple Olympic medalists do what they do best.
On Friday afternoon 30 December the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping takes place. A lot of familiar faces will be returning to the Nekkerhal. The former winners of the previous 8 editions will be competing: Daniel Deusser (DL | 2019, 2013), Christian Ahlmann (DL | 2018, 2015), Harrie Smolders (NL, 2017), Roger-Yves Bost (FRA | 2016), Simon Delestre (FRA | 2014) and world champion and current number 1 of the world Henrik Von Eckermann (SWE | 2012) would love to win the World Cup in Mechelen again.
Also a lot of Belgium’s favorites and international riders are joining us. Jerôme Guery (Olympic Team Bronze Tokyo), Pieter Devos (Olympic Team Bronze Tokyo), Niels Bruynseels, Thibeau Spits, Jos Verlooy and many more local heroes will be present.

On Wednesday and Tuesday all eyes are on the dressage riders. This year, Jumping Mechelen welcomes world champion Charlotte Fry. The winner of the 2019 edition, the Dutch Emmelie Scholtens, will try to extend her title. And there will also be a lot of Belgian dressage riders participating at Jumping Mechelen. With Belgian champion Larissa Pauluis (Olympic Games Tokyo), Jorinde Verwimp (Olympic Games Rio), Domien Michiels (Olympic Games Tokyo) and Charlotte Defalque Belgium may be in for a very succesful FEI World Cup.
Other international greats are Frederic Wandres (DL | Winner FEI World Cup Madrid 2022 and number 9 on the world ranking), Thamar Zweistra (NL | 3th FEI World Cup Madrid 2022), Dinja Van Liere (NL | number 9 on the world ranking) and Nanna Skodborg Merrald (number 10 on the world ranking).
Belgium’s national coach Jeroen Van Lent is very excited for the two days of dressage at Jumping Mechelen.“This is one of the most beautiful master lists we’ve had in years. But not only for the World Cup this will be a great year. The Small Tour competition will be spectacular as well.”

The best drivers in the world will join us on Thursday and Friday. Seven drivers, each pulled by four horses, will rock the Nekkerhal. For Glenn Geerts this will be a special edition. He will participate for the 10th consecutive year, and he hopes to make it to the top 3.To ride the drive-off for my home crowd, that’s what I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little kid.”, says Glenn. With Glenn Geerts and Dries Degrieck Belgium has two strong particpants in this World Cup. Another powerhouse on the list is Bram Chardon, the winner of the World Cup Finale in Leipzig 2021/2022.
